Ultimo and Blockbax partner to enable data-driven Enterprise Asset Management
Bridging the gap between monitoring and maintenance
Unplanned downtime and reactive repairs are expensive. Every hour of lost production or manual coordination adds pressure to teams and budgets. Many maintenance departments still rely on separate systems for alarms, work orders and performance data. Operators and asset managers spend valuable time combining data from different systems to see what is happening across their assets.
As organisations digitise their operations, their focus shifts from reactive to proactive operations. Maintenance is no longer just about reacting to failures but about understanding asset condition in real time and using that knowledge to plan smarter. Live condition monitoring is becoming a key part of this change, helping teams see problems earlier and take action before breakdowns occur.
The partnership between Blockbax and Ultimo marks a move toward fully integrated asset management. It links live condition monitoring and control from Blockbax with Ultimo’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software, creating one continuous view of asset health.
With this integration, maintenance teams are able to see the live condition of their assets, recognise early signs of trouble and act before downtime occurs. Alarms raised in Blockbax automatically appear in Ultimo with full context, from sensor readings to asset history, in one shared workspace. This allows organisations to evolve from reactive maintenance to condition-based and ultimately proactive operations. The result is greater efficiency, clearer insight and stronger control.
Example
Take a district heating operator as an example. A sudden drop in pipeline temperature triggers an alarm. Instead of calling around or checking multiple systems, the operator immediately sees related work orders and maintenance history. With one click, a new job is created in Ultimo, already filled with location and asset details. The maintenance planner can then prioritise and schedule the work straight away, preventing disruption and extra costs.
Dennis van den Bos, Co-founder of Blockbax commented:

"The future lies in open, data-driven asset management. Our integration with Ultimo is a crucial step in making this a reality, bringing live condition monitoring and asset management together in one natural flow. It gives operational teams a single, connected view of their assets. They can respond faster, plan smarter and keep assets running reliably and sustainably while reducing workload."
Harold Maasen, Manager of Realisation, Operations and Asset Management at Firan, a joint customer of Blockbax and Ultimo, added:

"The partnership between Blockbax and Ultimo brings together two crucial parts of our operations. By uniting live condition monitoring with asset management, we gain one connected view of our assets. It helps us run them more efficiently today and prepare to scale smarter for the future."
