Digitizing the
water sector
The water sector is changing rapidly due a number of factors. We’re already seeing how climate changes affect agricultural production, the rise of the sea level and the amount of wildfires. Another factor is the growing global population, that according to the UN will require global food production to increase with 70% by 2050. A shift towards a more circular economy requires a switch from a traditional linear approach to a more circular one will require water companies to rethink their traditional wastewater treatment methods.
These changes require water companies to rapidly adopt smart and intelligent network technologies in which sensor data and data analytics play a critical role. These can help with improving the reliability of physical water infrastructures, cut non-revenue water losses and create overall water, energy and cost efficiencies dramatically while enhancing customer service.
