Blockbax Platform highlights
We 💚 fast and frequent releases. New features are added on a daily basis, and this blog series will showcase our favorite new features. This blog’s highlights:
Scatter plot
The Scatter Plot feature in Blockbax is a powerful tool for visualizing the relationship between two variables. By plotting data points on an X-Y axis, users can quickly identify patterns, trends, and correlations within their datasets. This feature is particularly useful for exploring how one variable may influence another, making it easier to detect correlations or spot potential outliers that could be significant for further analysis.
Beyond adding the scatter plot visualization, to your dashboard, you can also interact with the plot when expanding the view. Have a look below at a Blockbax user adding the scatter plot, and adjusting the axes by simplying clicking on them.

Conditional widget
Another new widget release we’re ecstatic about is the Conditional. This widget will allow you to tailor your dashboards based on subject properties. Properties can be used to add additional context to your subject which may not be ingested via measurements. An example could be if you would like to enrich a sensor with the exact city, or region it is located in, or perhaps select the brand of the type of subject you’re monitoring.
Below you’ll see a fully configured dashboard that is making use of the Conditional widget. The dashboards have been designed to show a Conditional based on a property capturing the brand of heat pump. As you can see, the dashboard and content differs per property value as the user switches between subjects.
We’ve also gone into more depth for this widget in a feature spotlight, so if you’d like to learn more about how to configure this widget, feel free to give it a read!

Maps dark mode
A small but welcome addition to the Blockbax platform is a beautiful new dark mode for maps. We’ve also revamped our light theme maps with more contrast and details. Have a look below and compare both the new dark mode map, as well as the updated light mode map.
Variables
Properties are now even more powerful in your dashboarding experience. You can now use variables to fill properties or other metadata in the captions of your widget panels. This is not limited to just the current subject, but you can also even use variables to fill metadata and properties of the parent subject, in case you are using subject composition.
A nice example can be shown below, where a Blockbax user is entering a caption for a scatter plot comparing the CO2 and Occupants in one plot for a room. In this case, we have configured subject composition so we would like to add a variable for the parent subject’s name, followed by it’s own name and finalized with the metrics that are being used.
Have a look below at the configuration:
Which, when configured, will dynamically display the floor name and name of the subject itself.
Address search
Find yourself wanting to quickly set a property based on the address? Look no further, when setting a location property you will now see a new search icon that will allow you to search on address. When selecting an option from the result list, the latitude and longitude coordinates will be automatically filled in for you.
Pro-tip: Inbound connector log payload
Curious to see what payload your inbound connector is receiving? You no longer have to define this in a custom payload conversion script, but now you can simply check the box underneath the Executions section of your inbound connector detail screen and the payload will be logged below. Make sure to enable logging first, then you’ll see the option to enable the logging of your payload. Check it out below!
